“Like Ringing Bells & Howling Wolves II” Ancient Diaphonic Vocal Systems from Bulgaria

“Like Ringing Bells and Howling Wolves _ Part 2”
Ancient Oscillating Vocal Systems from Bulgaria

- A One Day Vocal Workshop with TUi MAMAKi -

"The exquisite ornamentation of Graovsko song, from South Western Bulgaria, utilises beautifully augmented intervals, incisive connected tone, and a unique kind of oscillation of the voice that conjures the wilderness of wolves, threaded with the precision of centuries of craft in the realm of women’s vocal music."

Following the pleasure and power of having 24 women sing together at "Ringing Bells & Howling Wolves" in March, we are delighted to bring you the 2nd edition of this workshop series:

TUi MAMAKi will share with you her favourite Graovsko song of the moment - where gorgeous ornaments meet spritely rhythms - drawing on her long standing love affair with Bulgarian Folklore and the years she spent living there, learning from masters in women’s song. Graovsko is an extraordinarily rich regional style of particular interest and current study to her.

TUi MAMAKi has led dynamic vocal workshops for over 20 years, directs the Medena Ensemble and performs as ACAPOLLiNATiONS.
