Nino Raphael

Nino works Full time as a freelance Actor, Director, Choir leader and Vocal coach. He works part time as a performance and voice coach at Toi Whakaari National Drama School, Rata Studios, and Te Kōki New Zealand School of Music. He has worked for over a decade in theatre as a performer in youth theatre, festivals, and opera. He is currently musical director for WoSoSi (World song singers) & Vocal Blokes.

His current interest through song leading and vocal coaching is helping the 'actor' better embody music and their understanding of it through their singing voice and helping the 'singer' better embody their musical knowledge and translate that into presence and authentic performance.

He has an immense interest in music from the world and experienced the sounds and rhythm of African gospel from a very young age. With a choir leader for a father and a music therapist for a mother, he has immense belief in the aural tradition of learning music and the importance of understanding all Iwi's, time, place and events that surround the song and the communities that sing them.

Nino is available for group workshops around the North Island and private lessons in Te Whanganui-a-tara.

Please email for break down of costs - he is always open to negotiate these due to place, numbers or financial hardship.
