Chor Farmer. A rich history of singing in Featherston.
I wanted to take a moment to share a little about a recent Chor-Farmer Men's Choir visit to Featherston.
We hosted a lovely couple of guys overnight. The performance we attended was fantastic - they sang in German, Japanese, English and Maori (Pokarekare Ana).
The choir was founded in 1967. They have had the same director since the beginning.
The Chor Farmer choir are very polished. They clearly enjoy what they are doing and have put in the hard yards to give the audience an experience. Over the years they have made donations to the Featherston Fell Museum and donated the lovely grand piano in the ANZAC Hall. There is a deep connection with Featherston with many visits over the years.
The next day we had a ceremony at the Sakura Gardens just outside Featherston (site of the army camp in WWI later to become the pow camp in WWII). The emotions at the Sakura Gardens were high.
Cherry blossoms were out - first time some of the choir had seen them.

On a personal note as a host family for a couple of the choir, we'd love to do the honour again.
